In the South East of Mauritius, next to the village of Mahébourg, there is a villa of high standing in the typical Mauritian style, built in the ruins of an old lime kiln dating from the 18th century. Villa Mahéva is situated right on the sea offering a breathtaking view over the majestic Lion Mountain. The villa is also tastefully decorated with old stone and wood dating from colonial times.
The environment is very quiet (no neighbouring villas) and the garden is huge (ideal to organize weddings). There is a beautiful slate swimming pool, 5 en suite bedrooms (2 in the tower of the old lime kiln), and all have sea view.
The villa offers a wide range of free services:
(a) Monique the wife of Raj is responsible for the cleaning of the villa
b) Kayaks are at your disposal to paddle up the Creole river or in the lagoon
We recommend you rent a bicycle to go shopping each morning in the village of Mahebourg (5 minutes cycling from the villa) to buy your fish and vegetables at the market. Mahébourg was the first capital of Mauritius and the village is famous for its war ship battles. Thus we recommend the Naval Museum and the Regattas point which offers a superb view over the islands. You should also ride to the protected Blue Bay Marine Park (20 minutes from the villa) and also to the ruins of the first Dutch village in Vieux Grand Port. And for the nature lovers, do not miss the Valley of Ferney to discover Mauritius endemic trees.
